The Buffalo Sabres Intermediate and Junior Sled Hockey Teams recently competed in the Blizzard Invitational Tournament in London, Ont. The Intermediate A team won the gold medal and the Junior Team took the silver medal.
The Junior team defeated London and Mid-Am in regular tournament play, but lost twice to Mississsauga, including in the championship game, to earn second place and the Silver Medal.
Sabres goal scorers included Zach Leroy, John Willis and Nathan Bryant. Pierce Dunne was stellar in goal.
Three junior players represented Buffalo in the tournament all-star game: Kyle Dominiak, John Willis and Patrick Smith.
Congratulations to all the Buffalo sled hockey athletes on another fine tournament performance.
Parents, friends and sled hockey athletes gathered at Riverside Arena in December for the annual Buffalo Sabres Sled Hockey holiday party. One of the highlights was the opportunity for parents and others to get on the ice in sleds and compete with the athletes. Photos from the day are below.
The Buffalo Sabers Junior Sled hockey Team defeated Hamilton by a score of 4-0 in Hamilton Ontario on Saturday January 16th. The visiting team was led by Nathan Bryant who scored two goals in the victory.
Also scoring for Buffalo were Tyler Ball, who had a goal and three assists, while Jeremy Fuller rounded out the scoring on a hard wrist shot.
Another key factor in the win was stellar goaltending by Pierce Dunne, who recorded another shutout and received strong support from his defensive teammates.
Coach Harold Kothe told the team it was a solid performance as they gear up for the London tournament at the end of January.
